Wii-tarded

On Friday, we got our Wii! :) We were so excited..we ran home, connected it and got playing. We had never played "Boxing" on the Wii before, but I think it was our new favorite.

And another favorite is "bowling." We can't wait to have our bowling party. Unfortunately, we couldn't play for too long since we had a party to go to Friday night. And after only paying for about 2 hours I was quite sore on Saturday. You can really get a workout with a Wii!

Today we were even more excited because Guitar Hero III came in the mail. I've already improved and I'm on my way to Rock Legend status. :)

Thursday Night

Some thoughts...

• I'm SO happy that David Cook won and is this year's American Idol! I thought he should be the winner, but had prepared myself for Archuleta to win. It was a nice surprise after having my heart broken the night before when Jason Taylor took second place in Dancing With the Stars. I used all 5 of my online votes for Jason and made Ronnie register to vote 5 more times. He was so good. And yes, Kristi was good, but HELLO she has a dancing background = unfair advantage!
• We're still waiting for our Wii to arrive. I anxiously check our mail box about 5 times a day. Hopefully, we'll get it tomorrow! Although, we have a party to go to tomorrow night and we're leaving early Saturday to go on a road trip with our friend's Brent and Rachel and their son Grant...which means no Wii over the weekend. We're going to Chugchilán to stay at the Black Sheep Inn.
• I'm not really sure what to expect, I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures and details when we get back on Monday.
• It's still cold and rainy here. Not fun! When we first got back it was pretty sunny and I thought we'd seen the end of rainy season. Apparently, not.
• "So You Think You Can Dance" starts tonight on FOX...the only network we don't get here. I love that show and I'm so bummed I won't get to watch it....that's all for now, time for bed. I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!
  

Weeeeeee...or Wii

So ever since I played the Wii for the first time, I thought it was the coolest video game system. I've never really been into video game consoles or had any interest in ever buying one. But once I met the Wii, I had to have one. We played at Ronnie's co-worker's place and it was such a blast! As much as I wanted one, I really wasn't too obsessed about it...until recently.

I kept hearing the craze about the video game "Guitar Hero." Although I had never actually played it, I knew it would be something I would love. How can you not have fun competing by "playing" some of the greatest rock/hair band music?? Being a child of the 80s/90s I was a HUGE fan of hair bands. Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Slaughter, Trixter, Warrant, Tesla, Poison...just to name a few. LOVED them! Well, while Ronnie and I were home on vacation we stopped at a Best Buy. As we walked the aisles (in awe of all the fun gadgets and toys that you just don't find in Ecuador) we happened to stumble upon "Guitar Hero", set up and ready to play. WHAT! I immediately threw down my purse and grabbed the guitar. We choose "Talk Dirty To Me" by Poison and I was ready to rock. About 10 seconds into the song, I realized I was horrible...I couldn't keep up and wasn't sure I was doing it correctly. Next thing I knew, the character on the game threw down his guitar and was booed off stage. Damn, this was harder than I thought it would be. It was Ronnie's turn, but this time we asked sales person how to play. I wasn't strumming!! DUH! Ronnie took a shot at the same song and kicked butt! He seemed to forget about his surroundings as he got in "rocker" position, strumming away and rocking like he really was on stage. I felt like his groupie! Well, once we both played for a while, I had to have it! I bugged him for the rest of the trip about wanting a Wii so we can play "Guitar Hero". On our last weekend home, we went back to Best Buy for one more "performance". I really, really wanted to game. Well, the Wii was sold out and they wouldn't have any in until after we were back in Ecuador.

Since then, I've had Sofia on the hunt for a Wii system. This morning I got the phone call...Rob got one for us! Woo hoo! So, it will be shipped to us tomorrow and we'll be rocking out in no time.

In addition to Guitar Hero, the Wii comes with a few sports game...boxing, bowling, tennis baseball. Once we get it, we're going to have a bowling party at the house. No need to go out in the rain and wear yucky bowling shoes. We can now "bowl" in the comfort of our own home.

Baby Bobrik

I know it has been a LONG time since I've posted and there is so much I want to write about, but it's late and I'm tired. BUT, I did want to share the adorable baby announcement we received from Nick and Trish. Congrats again!

Happy Birthday, Sam!

Today is Sam's 4th birthday! I can't believe how quickly time flies. I can still remember the big-bellied Haydee at Ronnie's coming home party. Wow...4 years old. I hope you have a great day, Sam! I love you...even if your dad has forced you into being a Jets fan! :)

Happy Tax Day!

Have you filed your taxes yet? Ronnie and I will be doing so when we get home. (Actually, Ron's dad will be doing it.) We don't have to obey th April 15th deadline since we don't owe and we're overseas. I hope Uncle Sam is nice to you!

Yes, I was a Cheerleader

My dad sent this picture to me today. I was probably 10 years old (or so) when I was a cheerleader for the Kendall Broncos, a Pop Warner team at Coral Reef Park. I loved it! The following year I cheered at Colonial Drive Park (a lot closer to where we lived) for the Richmond Rams...I was the only white girl on the squad. Maybe that's where I learned my dance moves! :) I don't think I've ever seen a single picture of me from that squad.I wonder why we were posing like flamingos.

Overwhelmed with Excitement

This weekend I have found myself getting SO excited about all of the upcoming events. I have so much to look forward to in the next month...

1. Ronnie comes home in 3 days!!
2. We leave for Miami and finally get to see friends and family after 6 long months.
3. We're going to the Bon Jovi concert...YAY! AND Daughtry is opening...double YAY!
4. 2 days later we'll be on a plane headed for Jamaica. We're so excited to finally enjoy our honeymoon. It will be so nice to relax for four days, soaking in the sun.
5. Another week in Miami when we get back.

I can't wait!! :)

American Idol

Although Ron and I don't get to watch some shows that we'd really like to (Rock of Love, Nip/Tuck, and just about anything on FOX) we are lucky to have the Sony Entertainment channel. It's basically a channel that plays all kinds of American shows like Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs, Whose Line Is It Anyway, they are sometimes older shows, but they do show this season's American Idol. Yay!! It's aired one week later than in the States, so I usually know who gets booted before I actually see the show, but it's still great to see. So, I am mostly s fan of the guys. I do like Brooke and Carly, but other than that, girls kind of bore me. As for the guys, I've like David Archuleta since the beginning and I really, really liked the first few performances by Jason Castro. I especially liked when he did "Hallelujah"...I even downloaded his performance from iTunes. Which, in turn made me download Jeff Buckley's version...and apparently a lot of other people. Jeff Buckley's version shot to the #1 downloaded song the week after Jason's performance. Then when David Cook did the rearranged version of Lionel Ritchie's "Hello" I absolutely LOVED it. It was SOOO good. I also downloaded his performance. Then week after week he just keeps getting better. Tonight the contestants sang songs from the year of their birth. When David Cook first started singing, I couldn't figure out the song. Then I realized it was "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. Wow! It was so good. I guess it was a version by Chris Cornell, but damn, it was good. In case you missed it:

Dancing with the Stars

I've never really watched this show in previous seasons, but as soon as I found out my NFL husband, Jason Taylor, would be a part of this year's show I was SO excited! I even marked the season premiere on my calendar. Last night was the third show and he gets better every week! I just wanted to share.

A few years ago Ron and I went to the Dolphin's training camp in Davie. He said Jason was looking right at me and I should wave, but I clammed up! Oh well, next time. :)

Hangin' Tough

I just got an email from Liane with some extremely exciting news. And I will quote her "OMG OMG OMG OMG…………….. Can you say suuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh-WEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTT!!!!!!!?????" Ha!

That was followed by the announcemnet that New Kids on the Block (N.K.O.T.B. for the true fans) will be reuniting to perform on the Today show. This is from People.com:


"Looks like the Today show's got the right stuff: All five original New Kids on the Block members – Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight – will appear together in the morning show's courtyard on April 4, a source tells PEOPLE.

After months of speculation, PEOPLE confirmed in January that the band is reuniting–just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their mega-hit album Hangin' Tough. The group also recently updated its Web site, nkotb.com.

The boy band, which made legions of tweens swoon in the early '90s, selling more than 50 million albums, became a worldwide phenomenon before calling it quits in 1994Since then, the oldest "Kid," Jonathan Knight, 39, retreated back to Boston to become a real estate developer. Former members Wahlberg, 38, and McIntyre, 35, have seen acting success, while Wood, 38, has worked as a music producer and Jordan Knight, 37, has continued to record."
